Asthma? Heck No!

                             ASTHMA?   HECK  NO!

This is a long article but if you are suffering with asthma, or any nagging health problem, you may find this well worth taking your time to read.

As an adult it seemed that I always had short breath.  It really wasn't severe but I found I couldn't run around a dog show ring as easily as others could.  As time went by it became progressively worse, and in recent years I would have to sit down and rest after going up just one flight of stairs.  I didn't feel sick, it was only that I couldn't breathe properly.

Finally early in 2006 I went to see my GP.  He gave me a prescription for a week's supply of antibiotics and Prednisone (a steroid).  These meds really helped but a couple weeks after they were gone, the breathing worsened again.  Some months later I went back to him and he gave me these same prescriptions for another week's supply and also instructions to purchase a nebulizer and a prescription for Albuterol to use with it after the meds were gone.  Again this helped but as time went on I became more and more dependent on the nebulizer to be able to breathe.

I became progressively more and more congested and wheezed continually, so much so that I had a hard time going to sleep at night because the sound of my loud wheezing would keep me awake.  I also had to sleep with a box of tissue on the bed and a plastic bag to use as a waste basket because I was constantly coughing up and blowing so much mucus.

Getting no real help I finally went to an asthma/allergy specialist in June 2006. He tested and said my lungs were only operating at 40% capacity.  He also prescribed antibiotic, Prednisone, Albuterol and started me on Advair.  I returned to him about a week later and my lung capacity had increased to 60%.  He said that was probably the best it would ever be and that I needed to continue Advair indefinitely and probably forever.  That was fine with me because I was breathing pretty well.  Later however I became aware of the possible deadly side effects of Advair and tried to go off of it but when I did my breathing became frighteningly worse so I started to use Advair again.

Sometime in May 2007 I returned to the specialist for a checkup (my lungs tested at 58%)  I voiced my concerns about Advair at that time and he said that I needn't be concerned but I wasn't reassured at all so I weaned off of it again and of course my breathing became quite bad again and I had to use the nebulizer four times a day just to able to breathe without gasping for breath.

It became necessary to time my use of the nebulizer to immediately before my dog training appointments and even then, sometimes I would have to sit down and tell my clients that I needed to breathe for a few minutes.

Early in 2008 I returned to my GP to try to get something that might help.  He prescribed Singulair but that was no help at all.  I was able to get another prescription for Prednisone because that really gave me some relief if I took one tablet about every third day and continued the nebulzer four times every day.  Prednisone is a steroid and really not healthy and of course the doctors wouldn't continue to give me prescriptions and I was running out of my supply.

In the fall of 2008 a friend told me about a woman she knew whose sister had severe asthma, usually having to be hospitalized once or twice a year because of it, and that she began a nutritional program and has been well for the past ten years.  I said "Please give me her phone number because I am very interested to find out more about this."

I made contact with this very lovely person and we talked on the phone for a long time. She related her personal experience at length and explained that this was a regime of taking one small packet of concentrated food twice a day, several capsules of unique herbs and drinking a special tea. She made a point of telling me that the company makes no claim to heal any disease.  The products are based on a Philosophy of Regeneration and are formulated to nourish the body at the cellular level.

I asked if there was any kind of a diet that was required and was told that there was not.  You can eat pretty much as you do now, however they do recommend that you try to eat in as healthy a way as possible.

She explained that it was a multi level company and at that point I was disappointed because, over the years, I had been involved in several multi level companies (Shaklee, Herbalife, Amway) and my husband and I had decided long ago that we didn't want to go that route again.  She said that was OK and that I could buy retail if I didn't want to join but that it would be cheaper to join and get the discounts.

Because I was desperate and ready to jump in with both feet to give it a try since nothing else was helping, I decided to join.  One of the best decisions I have ever made!

I began using the products in October 2008 and the first thing I noticed was that I no longer had cramps in the arches of my feet.  Previous to this I had these bad cramps in my feet almost every night when I went to bed.  I'd keep changing positions in bed, lying first on one side and then on the other to try to relieve the pain.  Most of the time I would have to sit up in bed and rub the arches of my feet to get the cramps to go away but much of the time I'd end up having to get out of bed and walk around the room to get some relief.  After just a few days of using the nutritional products there were no more cramps.  I couldn't believe it.  Every night thereafter I would go to bed and wait for the pain in my feet but it never happened again.  No help with my breathing at this point but I knew something wonderful was going on in my body.

The next benefit was that I no longer had my thumbs lock against the palm of my hand which it did frequently, not every day, but two or three times a week.  I would have to take a finger of my other hand and pull the thumb off of the palm.  Still no help with my breathing but I felt it was just a matter of time.

As many weeks went by I sometimes got discouraged because no help for my breathing.  My upline told me to be patient because nature heals slowly.  I remained faithful to the regime because I knew it helped with these other health issues and I thought that somewhere down the line it would correct my breathing problem.

In January 2009 I was still having problems breathing and a friend recommended a pulmonary specialist that had been helpful to her.  I made an appointment with him and told him I didn't want Advair so he gave me a prescription for Prednisone (15 day supply at lower doses), Spiriva and Asmanex (2 puffs) and he advised me to try not to use the nebulizer because he didn't want me to be dependent on it.  Beginning the second day on these meds I only had to use the nebulizer once a day (in the morning) and after four days I didn't need it at all and haven't used it since January 23, 2009.  Side effects to these meds were extreme dry mouth and very raspy voice but I was able to breathe.  In fact no problem at all breathing BUT of course I was still taking the Spiriva and Asmanex.

I decided I would go to only one puff of Asmanex a day beginning March 9th and it didn't affect my breathing at all to make that change.  After about ten days of only one puff, I went back to the pulmonary specialist for a checkup and the breathing test showed my lungs operating at 70% (best ever test). I told him I was taking only one puff of Asmanex and he said that was OK and that in about three months I could try stopping the Spiriva also.

All this time I was following the nutritional program faithfully and now I wasn't positive if the fact that I could breathe well was due to the program or to the medication. I was not willing to give up either one.

However after a while I decided I didn't want to wait three months but I wanted to try eliminating the meds now and see what would happen.  I stopped the Asmanex all together, because it is a steroid, and I haven't used it since that day (March 30, 2009) and still breathing well.  On April 10, 2009 I took my final Spiriva and have been completely medication free since that day, STILL BREATHING GREAT and gratefully continuing the nutritional program.

Let me say here that I do not recommend anyone stopping their medication without their doctor's approval.

It's such a blessing and a relief to be able to breathe at last. I think there in nothing more stressful than not being able to breathe.  Normal people can't understand that but it's horrible. The only thing that could be worse is constant severe pain and my heart goes out to anyone suffering like that.

Now you've heard my story with its happy ending. I thank the Lord for leading me to this nutritional program and if you are at all interested in obtaining more information, you can call me at 763-420-3491 and ask for Lee (that's me).  If you live out of the Minneapolis/St.Paul MN area, you can email your phone number to me at successdog@embarqmail.com and I will call you back.  I'll be glad to answer any questions you may have.
